Alessandro Cortini [live A/V] 51717 [live] at Good Room

Quo Vadis presents an evening of evocative soundscapes via a trio of live acts who push the boundaries of machine manipulation mixed with the tenderness and fragility of humanism and organic instrumentation

Alessandro Cortini [live A/V]
51717 [live]
OMPHALOS [live with accompanying dance performance by Veronica Santiago Moniello

OMPHALOS
Core team member Mike Amacio steps out from behind the mixing console to return to the QV stage with his band member Matthew Robinson as Omphalos. As a duo, they weave ethereal and complex electronic and cello-based textures together that conjure otherworldly hinterlands

VERONICA SANTIAGO MONIELLO [Habitual]
Verónica Santiago Moniello, is a Venezuelan-Italian choreographer and dancer currently based in the south of Mexico. She holds an M.F.A. Master of Fine Arts in the Theatre & Dance Program at UCSD, the University of California, San Diego (U.S.) and a B.A. in Dance Making by the Folkwang Universität der Künste, Essen (Germany), where she worked on Pina Bausch’s “Le Sacre Du Printemps” répertoire. Her practice is inspired by the notions of memory and the idea of birth, antagonist subjects of resistance, and dreams. In 2017 Verónica founded Habitual, a platform-based studio that explores the possibilities of movement within contemporary cultural practices. Her projects have been presented in Mexico, Venezuela, Belize, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Spain and the U.S. Cosmographia in collaboration with Jaekyung Jung. Commissioned by Seoul Urban Art Project, Seoul is Museum, Seoul Metropolitan Government, South Korea 2019

51717 [LIES Records]
Tensile hesitations and foreboding passages run through Lili Schulder’s oeuvre as 51717, from releases on Silent Servant’s Jealous God label to her more recently released LP on L.I.E.S. at the beginning of the year. Shadowy and granular voices decay and dart across these introspective compositions in unnervingly enchanting ways, and her live performances also explore these intimate realms that tussle between beauty and discomfort

ALESSANDRO CORTINI [Mute Records]
Celebrating the release of his stunning new LP, “Volume Massimo,” sonic maestro Alessandro Cotrini returns for his second QV performance with a powerful new A/V show. Analogue dissonance and traditional composition flows through hardware synthesis and guitar motifs in ways that stretch concepts of time and memory. Those familiar with his previous solo works, as well as his experiences within the NIN touring band, know what a treasure it is to see Cortini play live; and we are beyond delighted to present him again as he transforms Good Room into an immersive and deeply personal journey through his own life experience and depths of emotion

Mika Vainio Tribute

In 1999, Finnish electronic arch experimentalists Mika Vainio and IIpo Vaisanen, embarked on their legendary Around the World Tour as Pan Sonic, along with artist Edward Quist as visualizer and documentarian. The collaboration culminated in the seminal film Kuvaputki (Cathode Ray Tube). In 2017, a tragic accident in Normandy, France took Mika Vainio's life, leaving behind a monumental body of work. His work with Ilpo Vaisanen as Pan Sonic, and numerous solo works and collaborations across the art world, illustrate his influence over a generation. After asking some of Vainio's sound art contemporaries, and the emergent drivers of the new generation, to contribute a soundscape in Mika's memory, Quist reinterpreted some of the film 's methods as a kind of spiritual sequel for a post Vainio landscape. Twenty years after Kuvaputki, with a poignant capstone composition by Ilpo Vaisanen, and Dirk Dresselhaus as die Angel, Triode Kuvaputki is intended to be as ever evolving a work as its progenitor. Soundtrack Featuring: die Angel (Ilpo Väisänen and Dirk Dresselhaus) Alyssa Auvinen (LDY OSC) Johannes Auvinen (TIN MAN) John Duncan Paul Kendall Runar Magnússon Chris Latina (Article Collection) QVORG (Derek Gruen and Edward Quist) Edward Quist (embryoroom) Brian Ratigan (NonFilms) Chandra Shukla (XAMBUCA) 51717 Mo H. Zareei (mHz)

L.I.E.S. "Eminent Domain" Compilation

Various Artists - Eminent Domain 3xLP+ 45 - LIES-125

LIES-125
v/a-Eminent Domain
3xlp+45
all lps come with download code.

Massive 22 track compilation spanning three vinyl lps and one 45 showcasing a wide scope of subterranean American electronics. This is just a small look into the the massive contemporary underbelly of odd-ball sonic bottom dwellers making noise across the 50 states. These tranmissions come from remote government outposts, booming overcrowded metropolis', outskirts of America's South and even the long forgotten muck and sleaze of Northeastern suburbia.
This America in its glory, a nasty place rife with tension and division, ready to boil over into complete chaos at any given moment and these are artists that walk amongst it. Absorbing it all and spitting it out, moments of clarity and tranqilty go head to head with dramatic clashes, attempting to make sense of it all or simply to isolate oneself and escape this morbid world. A definitive sonic document of modern life in a nation on the decline.
